The LIME Foundation (formerly cable & wireless Jamaica Foundation) was established in November 2003.
The Foundation was established to:
> Help bridge the digital divide in Jamaica through the proliferation of FREE internet in schools;
> Support as much as possible educational initiatives in general, and specifically to help facilitate access to e-education;
> Foster wholesome values and attitudes;
> Assist non-profit organizations working in the foregoing areas.
There are two pillars to the work of our foundation - Partnerships and Employee Volunteerism.
Partnership - We are not equipped, neither do we desire, to be involved in running social programmes. We support others who are adept, more experienced and better placed to do so.
Employee Volunteerism - Our employees are passionate about giving back and support several worthwhile causes.
We are making a difference in Education, Youth and Community Development through:

- Free Internet access to all primary and secondary schools
- Free or subsidized computers to schools and other organizations
- "LINKs" (formerly cyberCentres) for community ICT access and training
- Free broadband internet for several NGO & community IT projects
- Free broadband access for all Parish Libraries
- Employee volunteerism/community outreach activites

LIME operates as the native incumbent telecommunications service providers in many of the islands where they reside.The company also operated mobile telecommunications under the bmobile brand from 2003 until rebranding them as LIME in 2008. Competitors include Digicel and FLOW. Cable & Wireless Communications, LIME's parent company also owns a 49% share in TSTT in Trinidad & Tobago and a 51% share in BaTelCo in The Bahamas.
